Green Juice WITHOUT a juicer

Green juicing is one of the healthiest things you can do for your body. I drink only green juice until noon every day. But if you're new to juicing, you may not want to invest the money, time and effort that go into owning a juice machine. You can still get your juice! Surprise: I DO NOT own a juicer.
Yep, I may be one of the only raw foodies that doesn't have one. It's not because I'm against juicers. It's because I follow a simple living lifestyle where one of my practices is to minimize owning lots of fancy gadgets. In a raw food kitchen, I found (through trial and some serious error!) that a high-power blender and a food processor are pretty essential, so I did break down and buy those. But that's all you really need. So back to juicing...
WHAT IS GREEN JUICING?
Green juice is a blend of vegetables (or fruits and vegetables) that includes some kind of green leafy vegetable. The vegetables are blended and the liquid is separated from the pulpy fiber. By removing the fiber, you get all essential nutrients without having to do much digesting.
This gives your whole digestive system a break and a chance to rebalance and heal. It's a way to feed your body maximum nutrition while giving your digestive system a well-deserved rest. Juicing lets you detox safely, cleansing you from the inside out. It's also a fabulous way to kick-start a weight loss journey!
HOW TO GREEN JUICE WITHOUT A JUICER
If you've never had a green juice in your life, you probably don't want to run out and spend several hundred dollars on a juicer, right? So what to do? You can spend a ton of money at a juice bar and risking that you aren't in control of what ingredients get added, or you can make your juice at home in about 10 minutes. Most good juice machines can take 30 minutes, so not too bad.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED
  • A blender
  • A nut milk bag or a fine mesh strainer
  • A mixing bowl to catch your juice
INGREDIENTS
Here is my favorite beginner's green juice mix:
  • 1 orange, peeled, seeded & segmented
  • 1 apple, seeded and chopped
  • 1/2 cucumber (peeled if you don't have a high-power blender) and chopped
  • 2 cups romaine lettuce, spinach, or swiss chard (rotate these for nutrient variety)
  • 1 cup purified water
As you get used to juicing, you can reduce the amount of fruit and then eliminate it altogether. Simply replace the orange with 1-2 stalks of celery and the apple with 1/2 lemon or 1/2 lime. Add more cucumber, other veggies and greens, or consider adding super foods like wheat grass & sunflower sprouts.
INSTRUCTIONS
  • Step 1: blend everything in your blender on high until well-pulped
  • Step 2: pour mix into either a nut milk bag or fine mesh strainer, set over a bowl
  • Step 3: squeeze & mash until all juice is extracted & pulp is dry
  • Step 4: Pour you juice into a glass and enjoy!
It couldn't be easier, so give it a try! Your body will love you for it, and you'll love the results you see.
Happy juicing!
